5 Stars for Disorderly Conduct by Tessa Bailey

You don't know what you've got until it's gone...

Police academy cadet Charlie Burns can't believe his luck when the gorgeous blonde he meets in a bar murmurs those magic words: "Nothing serious, 'kay?" Mind-blowing no-strings sex with Ever Carmichael- it's the holy grail of hookups for a guy who's too busy following in his law enforcement family's footsteps to think about getting serious. Charlie's all about casual...that is, until ever calls it quits and his world tilts on its axis.

Ever knows that when you control the relationship game, you can't get played. But for the first time, she wants more than short-term satisfaction. Step one: end her fling with commitment-phobic Charlie. Step two: sacrifice herself to the ruthless NYC dating scene. Yet everywhere she turns, there's Charlie, being his ridiculously charming self. No online match or blind date compares to the criminally hot cop-in-training, but they're over. Aren't they?

If love is a four-letter word, why does the idea of Ever seeing someone else tie Charlie up in knots? Now he's desperate to win her back... and a little date sabotage never hurt anyone, right?

Review:
I LOVED Disorderly Conduct by Tessa Bailey.

Disorderly Conduct is a super steamy contemporary with the heat of a new adult romance. This book features a commitment resistant hero and heroine who agree to just hook-up, but end up discovering that may not be enough when the person in front of you is your perfect match.

With the perfect balance of chemistry, humor, romance and a little angst, I quickly fell in love with this story. I crave a good happily-ever-after and this read has a cinema worthy ending. Tessa Bailey does an amazing job of introducing secondary characters and setting the stage for their stories to come. I gave this book five stars and look forward to more from this series!

Review: Just One Touch by Maya Banks (Slow Burn #5)

Raised in a strict religious cult since she was a young girl, Jenna has no connection to the outside world beyond vague flashes of memory that seem to be from another life. Memories she clings to when the cult leaders discover her extraordinary ability to heal- and punish her. Years held captive and forced to do the cults bidding have turned Jenna into a meek, timid woman.. or so they think. In truth, she's just biding her time, waiting for the perfect moment to escape.

When a terrified young woman tries to steal the SUV of Deveraux Security's toughest recruit, Isaac's anger quickly turns into a strange sort of protectiveness for the beautiful, bruised stranger. But, when they are caught in a firestorm of bullets and Isaac is hit, he's sure the end is near, until Jenna touches him and closes his wounds. As he tries to bring Jenna to safety, she refuses to tell him what danger haunts her or how she healed him, but Isaac vows to do whatever it takes to gain her trust... and her heart. Because with just one touch, Isaac knows he wants Jenna to be his forever.

Review:
Just One Touch is book number five in author Maya Banks Slow Burn series. There is nothing slow about the plot of this book. The story starts quickly with Jenna's escape from the cult and meeting her/our hero Isaac. I loved how he recognized the beauty within Jenna the first moment he saw her hiding behind a bruised, bloodied face and dirty clothes, even while trying to steal his truck. Before he can even begin to help her, he is shot and the alpha protector becomes the one needing help.  Jenna risks her safety to heal him and in return saves his life at their first meeting. He doesn't understand what happened, how she healed him, but he is damn sure not going to let anyone or anything hurt her.

I am not always a fan of instant love, but this story sold it to me almost immediately. These two shared a life-altering experience that sparked their feelings. While there is a paranormal element to this story, it's not the story. Jenna's ability to heal just gives the story a little something extra. I'm a romantic, I love when a hero isn't afraid to tell the heroine how he feels and Isaac has no qualms about revealing his feelings often. If you love a good alpha hero, Isaac is all that and a bag of chips. The twisty plot kept me interested and there were a few things I didn't see coming. The author does an amazing job of making this story stand alone, while at the same time peaking my interest to know more about other secondary characters (Isaac's crew from DSS Security and their spouses). This is the first book I've read in author Maya Banks, Slow Burn series and I can assure you it will not be the last.
