Something Sweeter by Candis Terry
Review & Giveaway!

Cool note on this cover- this is an actual couple's
wedding photo- Candis Terry thanks them  in the
dedication!
The men in Texas are hard to resist . . . Seattle event planner Allison Lane is an expert at delivering the perfect wedding—even if she might not exactly believe in the whole "'til death do us part" thing. When her father decides to tie the knot with a woman he barely knows, Allison heads to Sweet, Texas, to make sure his new honey is the real deal. What she didn't expect to find at the local honky-tonk was a sexy Southern man as bent on charming her pants off as he is on blowing her "true love doesn't exist" theory all to hell. And they always promise . . .

Veterinarian, former Marine, and Sweet's favorite playboy Jesse Wilder takes one look at Allison and knows she's a handful of trouble he can't deny. But even after a sizzling kiss and obvious mutual attraction, it seems Allison has no such problem. When Jesse uncovers her sweet side, can he crush his playboy image, melt her cynical heart, and change her mind about taking a trip down the aisle?

Review:
Something Sweeter is the perfect name for the latest addition to author Candis Terry's Sweet, Texas series.

I love this series. The Wilder boys always guarantee a great story and I couldn't wait for Jesse's story.

Allison is in Sweet for one reason, to figure out what is going on with her father and why he had decided to marry someone he barely knows. After witnessing her mother's relationships, Allison doesn't believe in love, much less love at first sight. She is in Sweet to protect her father. Enter Jesse Wilder, who's reputation makes him the least likely person to change her mind, but once the spark ignites, these two heat up the pages. The developing relationship between Jesse and Allison is fun and mix in all the family members and town folk that I was already in love with and this story was a win-win for me.

I gave Something Sweeter 4 BIG HAPPY HEARTS! Fans of this series will love this story and if you aren't already reading this series, start now. This book can be read as a stand alone story, however I recommend reading this series in order, each book builds and pretty soon the Wilder's start feeling a little like family. If you are looking for a fun, sweet upbeat contemporary romance series, take a trip to Sweet, Texas!

Beautiful Distraction (The Pleasure Wars) by Jess Michaels

This cover is beautiful and EXACTLY how I pictured Olivia!
It has been a particularly trying day for Olivia Cranfield. Despite her impeccable manners, stylish clothing and posh accent, another protector has detected her lowborn status and rejected her out of hand.

When fellow courtesan Violet invites her to come to Bath to help with the wicked seduction of the reclusive Early of Windbury, Olivia jumps at the offer, eager for some excitement and a change of scenery.

The moment Malcolm Graham lays eyes on the delectable woman lurking in the bathhouse alley, he knows she's a decoy to keep him busy while her friend seduces the earl inside. For a moment, he allows her to play her game... but one touch, and all he can think about is ending the two years of self denial he has endured in the name of friendship.

Instant attraction quickly turns into a decidedly erotic affair that makes Olivia question all she's ever know about passion. But when the truth behind Violet's assignment comes to light, betrayal threatens to bring everything they have built crashing down on Olivia's broken heart.

Review:
Beautiful Distraction by Jess Michaels is a fresh, fun, hot read that left me smiling... and blushing at times as well.

Malcolm see's Olivia for what she is from the beginning, but there is something with the instant attraction... or just plain lust that makes him seek more. Their chemistry builds and somewhere along the path the red hot lust starts to look a little more pink.. a little more like love.

There are times where I wanted to scream and times I laughed and times where I felt a tear slipping down my cheek. I was rooting for Malcolm & Olivia's HEA well before the halfway point of the story.

I throughly enjoyed this book. I hadn't read the Beauty and the Earl, so the story was fresh for me, but after reading this I want to read Beauty and the Earl, because I want more of Violet and the Earl. I am not normally one to read a book out of order, but I read this one that way and still found it very enjoyable. Jess Michaels is a talented writer, and I love a book where my heart strings feel a little tug and this one brought out that feeling for me.

I gave this book 4.5 stars and can't wait for more from this author!

REVIEW: Lady Windermere's Lover
by Miranda Neville

Blurb:
Hell hath no fury…

Damian, Earl of Windermere, rues the day he drunkenly gambled away his family's estate and was forced into marriage to reclaim it. Now, after hiding out from his new bride for over a year, Damian is finally called home, only to discover that his modest bride has become an alluring beauty- and rumor has it that she's taken a lover. Damian vows to keep his wife from straying again, but to do so he must seduce her- and protect his heart from falling for at the wife he never knew he wanted.

like a woman abandoned…

Lady Cynthia never aspired to be the subject of a scandal. But with her husband off gallivanting across Persia, what was a lady to do? Flirting shamelessly with his former best friend seemed like the perfect revenge… except no matter how little Damian deserves her loyalty, Cynthia can't bring herself to be unfaithful. But now that scoundrel has returned home, Cynthia isn't about to forgive his absence so easily- even if his presence stirs something in her she'd long thought dead and buried. He might win her heart.. if he can earn her forgiveness.

Review:
Take two people each brought together in a reluctant union,  then an absent husband, misunderstandings, deceit, an amorous suitor and a little wanton lust and you have what is the beautiful concoction that is Lady Windermere's Lover by Miranda Neville.

After a year apart the reunion of Lord Damian and Lady Cynthia, makes for an intriguing tale. Damian is surprised at the changes he sees in his Cynthia. Gone is the mousy country girl and in her place is a beautiful elegant lady. Damian decides it might be worth giving this marriage a real shot, but in order to do that he has to come to terms with what may or may not be going on between his wife and his former best friend Julian, The Duke of Denford.

Lady Windermere's Lover is Book #3 in Miranda Neville's The Wild Quartet series. This book can be read as part of the series or as a standalone as well. Ms. Neville does a great job of intricately laying out the backstory and makes this book enjoyable from the first page.

Damian was not on my favorite hero list at the beginning of this story. The way he treated Cynthia by abandoning her had me fuming and I was delighted that she found a friend in the Duke of Denford. I quickly became wrapped up in the story and by the end of the book I was rooting for Damian and Cynthia's happily ever after. I loved the art mystery that ties this story together and Cynthia's charitable exploits add to the building plot and it makes for a lovely escape. I gave Lady Windermere's lover 4 stars. I read this book in one evening and think that fans of this series, like myself, will enjoy Damien and Cynthia's story.  I am really intrigued and may have a tiny book crush on Julian, The Duke of Denford. It seems Julian's story will be the fourth book in this series and it will be added to my TBR list immediately.

Bad Girls Don't Marry Marines is book #3 in author Codi Gary's Rock Canyon series. This is a stand alone contemporary read that was enjoyable and bright. I kind of wanted Valerie to be a little more... bad. I actually liked her a little more than I expected to initially from the title. I empathized with her and felt frustration in the way she was treated by those around her. Justin is the hero that never gives up. This guy has the patience of a saint and no matter how many times Val tries to pretend she's not interested he doesn't give up.  In the words of Benjamin Franklin- "Energy and persistence conquer all things."

Bad Girls Don't Marry Marines is well written and will definitely appeal to fans of a traditional contemporary romance. I think this series if could potentially go head to head with Susan Mallery's Fools Gold series. Rock Canyon has a unique plethora of residents that help give the story that sense of community that makes for a good series set in a small town.

I became a Codi Gary fan after reading the first book in this series, Things Good Girls Don't Do and even more a fan after reading Good Girls Don't Date Rock stars. She is a relatively new author for me, but the start to this series has earned it a spot on my bookcase.  I can't wait to see what else she has in store for Rock Canyon.
