Identity Crisis by Eliza Daly
Review & Giveaway!

When Olivia Doyle's father dies under suspicious circumstances, rather than inheriting a family fortune, she inherits a new identity. She learns they were placed int eh Federal Witness Protection Program when she was five years old. Her father was involved in an art forgery ring and testified against the mob. Brought up not to trust anyone, Olivia has a difficult time relying on U.S. Marshal Ethan Ryder to protect her, and to keep her secret. She fears her father may have continued his life of crime through her art gallery. She has little choice but to depend on Ethan when she realizes someone is now after her. Olivia's search for truth leads her and Ethan across the country to a family and a past she doesn't remember.

At the age of ten, Ethan witnessed a brutal murder. He vowed when he grew up, he'd protect people in danger. Protecting Olivia is difficult when she won't trust him. He soon realizes his desire to protect ehr goes beyond doing his job, but if his judgement becomes clouded by emotions, her safety could be jeopardized.

Can Ethan and Olivia learn to trust each other when they uncover secrets that will change their lives forever?

First off let me say I enjoyed this book. I love a little mystery mixed with romance and this book gets 4.5 stars from me for effectively meeting this requirement!  One of my pet peeves with mystery/romace type books is quite often I can figure out what is going to happen next early on and it spoils the rest of the book for me. Identity Crisis is not like that at all! Ms. Daly does a great job of giving you just enough hints of what is going to happen next to build the anticipation factor, but not give away too much of the story.

The attraction between Olivia and Ethan is great, you feel their emotions when you are reading their interactions. I was rooting for them to be together almost from their very first meeting.

The Baby Bargain by Jennifer Apodaca

I love discovering new authors. Recently, I discovered Jennifer Lyon (who also writes as Jennifer Apodaca). I've read two of her books so far and both have been FIVE STAR!  I picked up her latest release, The Baby Bargain on Sunday night and had finished reading it by noon on Monday.

Description of The Baby Bargain courtesy of Amazon:
Seeing Adam Waters is the last thing veterinarian Megan Young expects. Ex-Marine, Ex-Boyfriend. And still extremely dangerous territory. But Adam doesn't know the secret that Megan has been keeping from him. The secret that was created three years ago, after their last night together...

Adam returns to Raven's Cove to sell his home in a final break with the town and memories that haunt him. The problem is that his attraction to Megan is as blazing hot as it ever was. But when a vicious smear campaign against Megan turns ugly, Adam learns the truth he never knew- he has a son.

Now the only way Megan can protect her child is to strike a bargain with Adam. And it's a bargain that looks a lot like blackmail...

The excerpt below is one of the most emotional exchanges in this book, it literally had me in tears, feeling their love and pain. This scene is when Megan tells Adam about his son:

"All these years, Meg, I thought of you in the long nights. You were what I fought for. I knew I could never be that man who would love you and have a family with you. But I fought for you... because I believed you were worth it. Good, honest, real. When I got so worn down at times I wanted to walk into the firestorm instead of run from it, I thought of you."

"And I kept fighting, wanting to make the world a better place for you."
Her eyes filled with tears. "Adam..."
He shook his head, refusing to let her suck him in again. "You're not that woman. You're not who I thought you were."

I can't even put into words how much I loved this book. Adam's belief that he is "damaged" makes you feel for him. Megan has worked so hard to be a good mom, to do better for her son and herself and she is such a great heroine. The story is gripping, the characters, the back characters, the dogs...

I tweeted Jennifer Lyon/Apodaca immediately after finishing the book, I had to know if she planned to write more books with the secondary characters from this book. She confirmed that Logan's (one of Adam's best friends) story will be next. The one secondary character I hope she writes about soon is Sienna, we are introduced to her as Adam's business partner, who's husband served with Adam, but was killed in the line of duty- I loved her and can't wait to see her get her happy ending as well!

The eBook is available for only $2.99 and in my opinion this is money well spent. Going forward any new books by Jennifer Lyon/Apodaca will be at the top of my TBR list!

Half Moon Hill by Toni Blake

Welcome back to Destiny, Ohio. Half Moon Hill is Toni Blake's newest release in her Destiny Series. Anna Romo is the younger sister Mike (Sugar Creek Book #2) and Lucky (Whisper Falls Book #2) Romo.

From Amazon:

You never know what destiny has in store . . .

A rugged loner and ex-biker-gang member, Duke Dawson is looking for some peace and quiet while recovering from an accident. But when Anna Romo comes wandering through his woods and into his cabin, she completely rocks his world. The last thing he expected or wanted was to find himself hungering after a woman whose eyes held hurt even deeper than his own . . .

Running from a troubled past, Anna is building a new life in Destiny. When she first meets Duke, she's terrified—but something about him calls to her very soul. The hard-bodied rebel is soon helping her turn her new home into a bed and breakfast, and close quarters quickly lead them into her bed. Their passion is palpable, but can she convince a man who has turned his back on life to take the biggest leap of faith of all and fall in love?

I enjoyed this book. The story is sweet and typical of a Toni Blake novel the love scenes are very intense. Anna discovers diaries in the attic of the old house that belonged to the previous owner, the love story in those letters and the way Ms. Blake ties it into the main story is beautiful. She also does a great job drawing you into her characters. I was afraid of Duke when Anna first stumbled upon him in the woods, but after she cleans him up, I started to quickly warm up to him and the use of Duke's pet name, "Daisy", for Anna makes him more and more endearing. I love a tortured hero, and Duke definitely has the makings for a great tortured hero.

Other characters from previous books (ie:Mike & Rachel, Lucky & Tessa and Mick & Jenny) in this series are interwoven masterfully and you get a nice glimpse into their current lives along with a few small back stories as well.

Half Moon Hill will be released on April 30th, but is available for Pre-Order now for $5.99 for the Mass Market Paperback on Amazon & BN.com, the Kindle version is $5.69 and Nook is $5.99. Here are a few links if you want to pre-order now:
