Review: Sinful Rewards 4 by Cynthia Sax

Four years ago, Bee Carter left her tiny hometown, escaping her tormentor. She concealed her tarnished reputation under a good-girl persona, hiding her history from Nicolas, her strong and silent billionaire; Hawke, her tattooed bad-boy biker; and Cyndi, her man-crazy best friend.

Today, she's returning home... and she's not alone. Some of her deepest, darkest secrets will be revealed. Trust will be tested. Clothing and inhibitions will be discarded. Bee and her hometown will never be the same.

When her past and present collide, will any of Bee's relationships survive?

Review:
I am absolutely loving the Sinful Rewards series by Cynthia Sax. I was anxiously awaiting this installment and it was well worth the wait.  This series is like my dirty little secret. It is so racy hot that as I sat in the airport waiting for my flight, I kept scanning from side to side to be sure my fellow passengers weren't reading over my shoulder, the lady beside me would've needed her pace maker reset.

After finishing Sinful Rewards, 1-3, I was firmly Team Nicolas. I have a thing for billionaires.. but, this installment sent me in the opposite direction and as I read the last page I was firmly Team Hawke. I can't wait to see what will happen next. Normally, I am not a fan of books that are released in small parts. I am not known to be a patient person. I am finding the Sinful Rewards series to be the exception, Cynthia Sax uses this format to build anticipation and she's caught this blogger, hook, line and sinker!

NOTE: This book is part of a series and you must read all other installments- this is NOT a stand alone work.

In case you missed this last week,  I am super excited that one of my favorite authors has a new series with William Morrow  Check out this blurb and cover!  This series is going to rock!

Dixie Lark hasn't had an easy life. After her parents were killed in a car accident, her cushy childhood in the suburbs died right along with them. Sent to live in a ramshackle house on a dirt road in Amarillo with her ailing grandparents and overprotective older brother, she and her her brother learned a love of music from their grandfather. The greats, Johnny & June, Waylon & Hank. Picking up her grandfather's fiddle changed Dixie's life forever, giving her an outlet for her emotions and allowing her broken heart to dream of a future she never knew existed.

Ten years later, Dixie and her brother Dallas are chasing the same dream. Their bank, Leaving Amarillo, is quickly becoming the hottest act in Texas. Unfortunately, Dixie's feeling for their drummer, Gavin, the tattooed, tortured soul who's been haunting her dreams since they were kids, are becoming hard to keep to herself. Watching groupies hang on him and make themselves available for one night stands is just too much for her. She knows he feels the connection between them and she wants Gavin to see her as more than just his best friend's little sister. Alex: Cold Fury Hockey #1 by Sawyer Bennett

Hockey star Alexander Crossman has a reputation as a cold-hearted player on and off the rink. Pushed into the sport by an alcoholic father, Alex isn’t afraid to give fans the proverbial middle finger, relishing his role as the MVP they love to hate. Management, however, isn’t so amused. Now Alex has a choice: fix his public image through community service or ride the bench. But Alex refuses to be molded into the Carolina Cold Fury poster boy . . . not even by a tempting
redhead with killer curves.

As a social worker, Sutton Price is accustomed to difficult people—like Alex, who’s been assigned to help her create a drug-abuse awareness program for at-risk youth as part of the team’s effort to clean up his image. What she doesn’t expect is the arrogant smirk from his perfect lips to stir her most heated fantasies. But Sutton isn’t one to cross professional boundaries—and besides, Alex doesn’t do relationships . . . or does he? The more she sees behind Alex’s bad-boy façade, the more Sutton craves the man she uncovers.

REVIEW: Skating on Thin Ice by Jami Davenport!

Jami Davenport presents Game on in Seattle, a new series featuring Seattle sports teams, hot men, and strong women.

He trusts his gut, she trusts her numbers, and neither trusts the other, as a billionaire's mission to bring hockey to Seattle clashes with his passion for the woman who holds his heart.

Ethan Parker, a billionaire determined to bring a professional hockey to Seattle, will stop at nothing to realize his dream. After signing an agreement to purchase another city's team, Ethan is anxious to make the move to Seattle, but a gag order by the League forces him to keep the sale a secret until the season ends, leaving him no choice but to go undercover as a consultant to study his team during the playoffs.

Lauren Schneider, Assistant Director of Player Personnel for the Giants hockey team, gets no respect from the team's testosterone-loaded staff. When Ethan bursts onto the scene, full of charm and genuinely interested in her opinions, she shares the team's weaknesses and discovers a weakness of her own--for Ethan. But when his true identity is revealed, and he starts cleaning house based on her unwitting input, his betrayal cuts deeply on both a professional and personal level. Bound by an employment contract, Lauren reluctantly moves to Seattle to work for the newly christened Seattle Sockeyes and her sexy, infuriating boss.

Lauren and Ethan must come to terms with their passions--for the team, for hockey, and for each other. Will their situation build a frozen wall between them, or will their love burn hot enough to melt the ice shielding their hearts?

Excerpt:
(This scene is from Ethan and Lauren's first kiss- enjoy this little teaser!)
Oh God, he wanted to kiss her in the worst way.  He dropped her hand and framed her face in his big hands, stroking her high cheekbones with his index fingers. She shivered but made no move to get away.

"Ethan," she whispered in a sexy, throaty whisper that sent a rush of lust to his groin.

"Lauren," he responded, his own voice raspy.

She stared into his eyes, her hazel eyes troubled and full of earnest questions, most likely fueled by her suspicious, which were well founded. Ethan held his breath, sensing another tough question coming his way.

"Is your primary residence Seattle?"

He couldn't lie again to her, just couldn't. so he did the only thing he could think of to change the subject and give her something else to fixate on.

He kissed her.

Oh yeah, he kissed her. He intended for it to be a brush of the lips, enough to distract her. But her eyes glazed over, and she closed them just as his lips touched hers. Warning bells clanged in his head and he silenced them mentally without effort, a testament to how committed he was to doing the wrong thing because it felt so fucking right.

Her kiss tasted like warm, soft rain on a Seattle summer day and lapped at the corners of his soul like gentle waves lapping across the sandy beach below his home. He felt as lightheaded as a teenager experiencing those first heady emotions of a new love. But this was not love and Ethan was no teenager and neither was Lauren. She was an adult woman, and he was a man, and this man wasn't strong enough to resist.

Review:
Ethan meets Lauren when he is pretending to be an agent sent by an interested investor to check out the team working from the inside out. Lauren is a woman in a mans world. She works hard to prove herself and gives herself heart and soul to the team. She made a mistake in her past by getting too close to a player and she almost lost her career. Her assignment to help Ethan understand the team is one thing, but the feelings and chemistry he stirs up when they are together is another thing entirely.

I quickly found myself loving Ethan, his passion for the game, and also his growing feelings for Lauren and knowing that when she found out who he truly was things were likely to go South quick- especially once she finds out he is taking her team as far West as it can possibly go. This story was a fresh take on hockey romance and I loved every single page!  I gave Skating on Thin Ice 5 STARS!

For those of you that follow this blog regularly you know there is nothing I love more than hockey romance. Sports romance is my thing, especially hockey romance, so my inner goddess donned her cheer leading uniform and jumped for joy as soon as she read the intro to Skating on Thin Ice. This is book #1 in her new Seattle Sockeyes series and Jami Davenport has plans, BIG plans, that include expanding more fictional sport teams in Seattle. She does a wonderful job building a team in this first installment of the Sockeyes Hockey, I can't wait for more from this team, as well as any other sports teams Ms. Davenport dreams up for me to read about!

Review & Giveaway: Wicked Nights by Anne Marsh

Winner takes it all...off

Former diving champion Piper Clark never loses. Unfortunately, if she doesn't land this lucrative contract, her diving business will fail. Worse still, it will be at the hands of her childhood nemesis, Cal Brennan—six feet of hard, rugged former Navy SEAL. So Piper proposes a wager: whoever loses the diving contract must take orders from the winner...in bed.

Cal needs this contract for his own reasons. A former rescue swimmer, he may be having a few issues with diving since his last mission ended, but Piper doesn't need to know that. Something about her impulsive nature makes Cal rise to the bait, and there's nothing he'd like more than to show Piper exactly what rules are good for.

All bets are on. And someones about to start playing dirty....

Review:
Wicked  Nights by Anne Marsh is a steamy hot romance that encapsulates everything I love about a Harlequin Blaze, an intriguing story, a sexy hero (a SEAL none-the-less) and a heroine that will risk it all for what she really wants.

Piper needs to win the contract with the cruise line to save her business. Cal also needs this contract, but for a more personal reason.  Once a sexy wager is added to the mix, these two find it more and more difficult to pretend they really don't like each other. Sparks fly and as the contract negotiations get more competitive their growing intimate relationship could cost  them the thing they want most.... someone will win this contract, but will they lose their heart in the process?

I love a good alpha male, but this heroine also likes a little control. The building relationship and back and forth between these two was thoroughly entertaining. The contract competition gave this story a fun plot twist and it kept me interested. I gave this book a solid 4 Stars! This was my first Anne Marsh read and I can say without a doubt it will not be my last.
