REVIEW: Skating on Thin Ice by Jami Davenport!

Jami Davenport presents Game on in Seattle, a new series featuring Seattle sports teams, hot men, and strong women.

He trusts his gut, she trusts her numbers, and neither trusts the other, as a billionaire's mission to bring hockey to Seattle clashes with his passion for the woman who holds his heart.

Ethan Parker, a billionaire determined to bring a professional hockey to Seattle, will stop at nothing to realize his dream. After signing an agreement to purchase another city's team, Ethan is anxious to make the move to Seattle, but a gag order by the League forces him to keep the sale a secret until the season ends, leaving him no choice but to go undercover as a consultant to study his team during the playoffs.

Lauren Schneider, Assistant Director of Player Personnel for the Giants hockey team, gets no respect from the team's testosterone-loaded staff. When Ethan bursts onto the scene, full of charm and genuinely interested in her opinions, she shares the team's weaknesses and discovers a weakness of her own--for Ethan. But when his true identity is revealed, and he starts cleaning house based on her unwitting input, his betrayal cuts deeply on both a professional and personal level. Bound by an employment contract, Lauren reluctantly moves to Seattle to work for the newly christened Seattle Sockeyes and her sexy, infuriating boss.

Lauren and Ethan must come to terms with their passions--for the team, for hockey, and for each other. Will their situation build a frozen wall between them, or will their love burn hot enough to melt the ice shielding their hearts?

Excerpt:
(This scene is from Ethan and Lauren's first kiss- enjoy this little teaser!)
Oh God, he wanted to kiss her in the worst way.  He dropped her hand and framed her face in his big hands, stroking her high cheekbones with his index fingers. She shivered but made no move to get away.

"Ethan," she whispered in a sexy, throaty whisper that sent a rush of lust to his groin.

"Lauren," he responded, his own voice raspy.

She stared into his eyes, her hazel eyes troubled and full of earnest questions, most likely fueled by her suspicious, which were well founded. Ethan held his breath, sensing another tough question coming his way.

"Is your primary residence Seattle?"

He couldn't lie again to her, just couldn't. so he did the only thing he could think of to change the subject and give her something else to fixate on.

He kissed her.

Oh yeah, he kissed her. He intended for it to be a brush of the lips, enough to distract her. But her eyes glazed over, and she closed them just as his lips touched hers. Warning bells clanged in his head and he silenced them mentally without effort, a testament to how committed he was to doing the wrong thing because it felt so fucking right.

Her kiss tasted like warm, soft rain on a Seattle summer day and lapped at the corners of his soul like gentle waves lapping across the sandy beach below his home. He felt as lightheaded as a teenager experiencing those first heady emotions of a new love. But this was not love and Ethan was no teenager and neither was Lauren. She was an adult woman, and he was a man, and this man wasn't strong enough to resist.

Review:
Ethan meets Lauren when he is pretending to be an agent sent by an interested investor to check out the team working from the inside out. Lauren is a woman in a mans world. She works hard to prove herself and gives herself heart and soul to the team. She made a mistake in her past by getting too close to a player and she almost lost her career. Her assignment to help Ethan understand the team is one thing, but the feelings and chemistry he stirs up when they are together is another thing entirely.

I quickly found myself loving Ethan, his passion for the game, and also his growing feelings for Lauren and knowing that when she found out who he truly was things were likely to go South quick- especially once she finds out he is taking her team as far West as it can possibly go. This story was a fresh take on hockey romance and I loved every single page!  I gave Skating on Thin Ice 5 STARS!

For those of you that follow this blog regularly you know there is nothing I love more than hockey romance. Sports romance is my thing, especially hockey romance, so my inner goddess donned her cheer leading uniform and jumped for joy as soon as she read the intro to Skating on Thin Ice. This is book #1 in her new Seattle Sockeyes series and Jami Davenport has plans, BIG plans, that include expanding more fictional sport teams in Seattle. She does a wonderful job building a team in this first installment of the Sockeyes Hockey, I can't wait for more from this team, as well as any other sports teams Ms. Davenport dreams up for me to read about!
