Audiobook Review: The Sweet Spot by Stephanie Evanovich
Performed by Katie Schorr

From New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Evanovich comes
another rollicking, sexy story of just how far a couple will go to find true love-- and keep it sizzling!

When pro baseball player Chase Walker first meets restaurateur Amanda Cole, it's love at first sight. But while Amanda can't help noticing superstar with the Greek-god build, he doesn't have a chance of getting to first- of any other- base with her. A successful entrepreneur who's built her business from scratch, Amanda doesn't need a Prince Charming to sweet her off her feet. But Chase as charm and  heart, as well as hunky good looks, and he isn't about to strike out in this courtship. His hopes rally when Amanda discovers that squeaky-clean Chase has a few sexy and very secret pregame rituals that turn the smart, headstrong woman into his number one fan.

Then a tabloid and a hidden camera threaten to turn the love of a lifetime into just another late-night punch line. Is Amanda ready to let loose and swing for the fences? Or will the pressure of Chase's stardom force them to call it quits.

Review:
I picked up the audio version of The Sweet Spot by Stephanie Evanovich last week and fell in love. I was a fan of Big Girl Panties in both the print and audio edition, and I was intrigued to read/hear the back story of how Chase- Logan's best friend from Big Girl Panties and his wife Amanda became the amazing couple that we were introduced to in Big Girl Panties.

First off let me say that the narrator this publisher picked was PERFECT for this book. Katie Schorr, gives  such a strong voice to Chase, a very alpha male, superstar with a very big personality. She also makes Amanda Cole the perfect feminine counterpart. Sometimes when listening to audio books when a narrator tries to be both the male and female lead it just doesn't work. It works so well with this story that at times I felt like I was listening to two separate people.

Chase is ever the gentleman and Amanda is a good girl that discovers her naughty side with his help. Amanda isn't used to living her life under the public microscope so when the going gets tough will Chase... chase Amanda, or will the media succeed in destroying their love.

I really enjoyed this story. If you are a fan of audio books in general I recommend grabbing this audio book. I also think if you've already read this book you could enjoy the audio version as well. For me sometimes an audio books can be like reading a book all over again for the first time, and that can be a truly memorable experience.  Also, I have to say  I was surprised with some other  reviews I had read, I found that people either loved it or hated it. But, then again I remember reading the same types of reviews for Big Girl Panties and that was quite possibly one of my favorite reads last year.  After reading & listening to two books by Stephanie Evanovich I have to say that I am a fan of her writing style and the stories she tells. I for one will be on the lookout for anything this author publishes!

REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Made for You by Lauren Layne

When the Wrong Guy is Oh-So-Right

Will Thatcher is exactly the type of sexy playboy good girls like Brynn have always avoided. And yet there was still something about him she just couldn't resist. When Will moved across the country three years ago, Brynn vowed it was time to put him behind her. She never thought Will might have other plans . . .

Back in town, Will intends to get what he's always wanted-gorgeous, unforgettable Brynn. For years, he tormented the untouchable ice princess in a desperate bid for her attention. Now he has a new plan, and he'll do anything to rewrite their stormy past.

This time, he's out to show Brynn that the imperfect man might be the best mistake of her life . .

Review:
Do you remember a time in school when a boy was a little too shy to let a girl know they were interested, so instead they teased or tormented them trying to get their attention? Will has always had feelings for Brynn, even if he may show his interest in the wrong way.

After a night together, Brynn makes it clear that she regrets what she considers a dirty little secret.. so Will leaves the situation and town. Three years later Will returns and this time he is determined to make sure Brynn notices him this time, because he knows she is worth a shot at forever.... even if yet again his approach may be a little off.

Brynn likes order and organization. Her life is planned and she uses journals she has created to guide her along the way. Then her perfect (perfectly boring) boyfriend dumps her and she begins to rethink her approach to life. Will is her sisters best friend and has been her adversary for most of her life. This wild boy is the opposite of what she thinks she needs in her life, even if part of her is drawn to him by a chemistry so strong it is hard to resist. So, when this good girl decides to go a little bad, who better to take a temporary walk on the wild side with? But, will this fling lead to more? At least one of them (Will) is counting on it!

I was intrigued by Brynn and Will after reading Only With You. I knew there was much more to this story and boy was there ever. Made For You is a fun read full of sexy witty banter. Will and Brynn have amazing chemistry and I was rooting for them to be together from the start. There were times however, I wanted to smack one of them in the head and say, open your eyes to what is right in front of you. I love Lauren Layne's writing style, her heroines feel real and she does a great job of bringing you into the story, making you feel alongside her characters. I gave Made for You -4 STARS,  I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more by this author.

Review: Laces & Lace by Toni Aleo

New York Times & USA Today best selling author, Toni Aleo presents the next installment in the Assassins Series.

Tangled in Laces- (Prequel novella to Laces & Lace- Included with this book)
In Tangled in Laces, Karson King is on the fast track to the NHL. Lacey Martin is coming back from a hard fight against cancer and is terrified of him, but the attraction is too much to ignore. Soon their love is so intense, neither of them see the rest of their lives without the other. Will Karson prove that he will protect his heart at all costs, or will he leave Lacey to pick up the pieces of her life once again?

Laces & Lace- Assassins Series Book #6
Nine years ago, things were perfect. Lacey and Karson had found their happily ever after... or so they thought. How do two people who were meant to be move on from that once-in-a-lifetime love?

Lacey has strength inside her that comes alive with the things she's most passionate about. She's a fighter, a survivor, and has everything she;s ever wanted but the one thing that matters most- love.

Karson is doing the one thing he loves most- playing hockey for the Assassins, yet he knows regret. He knows his life has been missing the one thing he walked away from so many years ago- Lacey.

Nine years later, and neither has been able to succeed in moving on from what was, what could have been, and who each of their hearts still beats for. When a chance encounter during a fateful night has their paths crossing again, will the tether still attaching their souls allow them to face the past, present and a possible future?

Can two people with fate on their side find a way back to each other? Overcome all the obstacles in their way and finally
live life together to the fullest?

Or will they let those around them and the circumstances they face, along with questions and doubt, ruin a second chance at the life they both deserve.

Review:
Laces and Lace was everything I had hoped for, and then some! I have been dying to read this story since Tangled in Laces was published in Seduced by the Game, the fundraising anthology -Hockey Fights Cancer. I am pleased to see that the prequel is included with this release and that the Author is donating $1 for every book sold to this wonderful cause.

When Karson was forced to walk away from Lacey years ago it broke him. He's never fully been able to move on and when a chance to make amends presents itself he commits fully to reclaim Lacey and his heart.

Lacey won her battle with breast cancer, but still has an aching hole in her chest, put there by Karson. When fate brings him back to her door, she finds it impossible not to give him the second chance he so desperately wants.

However, Lacey's family and best friend aren't excited about this reunion and are a determined to separate these two for good. Will true love overcome all odds, or will the meddling of the people that claim to love Lacey the most push these two soul mates apart... Again?

I am such a fan of the Assassins series. Toni Aleo writes emotional, but heartwarming romances starring hot hockey players and the women who love them. I've yet to give any book in this series less than 5 stars. This series is one that I've reread several times and am likely to read it again. Laces in Lace maybe in my top two favorites of this series. Toni Aleo uses her voice as a platform to not only entertain, but to also bringing something as ugly as cancer and making it beautiful with this story of second chances.

I recommend reading all books in this series, however Laces and Lace can absolutely stand alone. If you are looking for a great read this one is sure to fit the bill.

5 Stars for WILD by Sophie Jordan!
Review & Giveaway!

A good girl goes fabulously bad in the final book in New York Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan's sexy New Adult romance series, in which three Ivy League suite-mates seek higher knowledge of just how far they can go.

Months after her boyfriend dumped her, Georgia can still hear the insults he hurled at her. Boring. Predictable. Tame. Tired of felling bad, she's ready to change her image, and go little wild.  What better way to prove her ex wrong than a hot night of sexual adventure at the secret campus kink club?

In the shadowy den of the kink club, she unexpectedly runs into Logan Mulvaney, her friend's little brother. A player extraordinaire too hot for his own good, he may be younger, but the guy is light years ahead when it comes to sexual experience. Now he's telling her to go home- "good girls" don't belong here!

Georgia is tired of having others define her. She's going to teach Logan a lesson he won't forget- one white hot, mind-wrecking kiss... that leads to another... and another... and... Realizing she's in way over her head, Georgia runs.

Only Logan won't let her go. Everywhere she goes he's there, making her want every inch of him. Making her forget who he is. And just how wrong they are for each other.

Review:
Georgia has been the supporting friend in the previous two installments of this series, Foreplay- Ivy Chronicles Book #1Tease- Ivy Chronicles Book #2, she was the "good girl" friend, with the reliable boyfriend her family approved of, who always followed the rules. We also met the notorious Logan, this younger brother is no kid, he is very wise for his age. The boyfriend is gone and the "good girl" is tire of being bored. so what better match than a bad boy that makes walking on the wild side... oh so much.

I gave WILD- 5 STARS, in fact this entire series gets 5 STARS from me! I have admitted before on a previous review on the first book of this series that I was hesitant to give this series a shot from the beginning. I saw Sophie Jordan has primarily a historical writer and there is a big difference between these two genres. My fears were so off base- this writer has proven to me that she can write any genre, and not just write it... but write it well. I recommend you add this book (and series) to your TBR list.

Sophie Jordan's Ivy Chronicles is quite possibly my favorite New Adult series of 2014. Wild, the final installment in this wonderful series was the perfect ending to what this blogger found to be a super sexy New Adult series with characters that stay with you long after the last page is turned.

Review: Sinful Rewards 4 by Cynthia Sax

Four years ago, Bee Carter left her tiny hometown, escaping her tormentor. She concealed her tarnished reputation under a good-girl persona, hiding her history from Nicolas, her strong and silent billionaire; Hawke, her tattooed bad-boy biker; and Cyndi, her man-crazy best friend.

Today, she's returning home... and she's not alone. Some of her deepest, darkest secrets will be revealed. Trust will be tested. Clothing and inhibitions will be discarded. Bee and her hometown will never be the same.

When her past and present collide, will any of Bee's relationships survive?

Review:
I am absolutely loving the Sinful Rewards series by Cynthia Sax. I was anxiously awaiting this installment and it was well worth the wait.  This series is like my dirty little secret. It is so racy hot that as I sat in the airport waiting for my flight, I kept scanning from side to side to be sure my fellow passengers weren't reading over my shoulder, the lady beside me would've needed her pace maker reset.

After finishing Sinful Rewards, 1-3, I was firmly Team Nicolas. I have a thing for billionaires.. but, this installment sent me in the opposite direction and as I read the last page I was firmly Team Hawke. I can't wait to see what will happen next. Normally, I am not a fan of books that are released in small parts. I am not known to be a patient person. I am finding the Sinful Rewards series to be the exception, Cynthia Sax uses this format to build anticipation and she's caught this blogger, hook, line and sinker!

NOTE: This book is part of a series and you must read all other installments- this is NOT a stand alone work.

Alex: Cold Fury Hockey #1 by Sawyer Bennett

Hockey star Alexander Crossman has a reputation as a cold-hearted player on and off the rink. Pushed into the sport by an alcoholic father, Alex isn’t afraid to give fans the proverbial middle finger, relishing his role as the MVP they love to hate. Management, however, isn’t so amused. redhead with killer curves.

As a social worker, Sutton Price is accustomed to difficult people—like Alex, who’s been assigned to help her create a drug-abuse awareness program for at-risk youth as part of the team’s effort to clean up his image. What she doesn’t expect is the arrogant smirk from his perfect lips to stir her most heated fantasies. The more she sees behind Alex’s bad-boy façade, the more Sutton craves the man she uncovers.

REVIEW: Skating on Thin Ice by Jami Davenport!

Jami Davenport presents Game on in Seattle, a new series featuring Seattle sports teams, hot men, and strong women.

He trusts his gut, she trusts her numbers, and neither trusts the other, as a billionaire's mission to bring hockey to Seattle clashes with his passion for the woman who holds his heart.

Ethan Parker, a billionaire determined to bring a professional hockey to Seattle, will stop at nothing to realize his dream. After signing an agreement to purchase another city's team, Ethan is anxious to make the move to Seattle, but a gag order by the League forces him to keep the sale a secret until the season ends, leaving him no choice but to go undercover as a consultant to study his team during the playoffs.

Lauren Schneider, Assistant Director of Player Personnel for the Giants hockey team, gets no respect from the team's testosterone-loaded staff. When Ethan bursts onto the scene, full of charm and genuinely interested in her opinions, she shares the team's weaknesses and discovers a weakness of her own--for Ethan. But when his true identity is revealed, and he starts cleaning house based on her unwitting input, his betrayal cuts deeply on both a professional and personal level. Bound by an employment contract, Lauren reluctantly moves to Seattle to work for the newly christened Seattle Sockeyes and her sexy, infuriating boss.

Lauren and Ethan must come to terms with their passions--for the team, for hockey, and for each other. Will their situation build a frozen wall between them, or will their love burn hot enough to melt the ice shielding their hearts?

Excerpt:
(This scene is from Ethan and Lauren's first kiss- enjoy this little teaser!)
Oh God, he wanted to kiss her in the worst way.  He dropped her hand and framed her face in his big hands, stroking her high cheekbones with his index fingers. She shivered but made no move to get away.

"Ethan," she whispered in a sexy, throaty whisper that sent a rush of lust to his groin.

"Lauren," he responded, his own voice raspy.

She stared into his eyes, her hazel eyes troubled and full of earnest questions, most likely fueled by her suspicious, which were well founded. Ethan held his breath, sensing another tough question coming his way.

"Is your primary residence Seattle?"

He couldn't lie again to her, just couldn't. so he did the only thing he could think of to change the subject and give her something else to fixate on.

He kissed her.

Oh yeah, he kissed her. He intended for it to be a brush of the lips, enough to distract her. But her eyes glazed over, and she closed them just as his lips touched hers. Warning bells clanged in his head and he silenced them mentally without effort, a testament to how committed he was to doing the wrong thing because it felt so fucking right.

Her kiss tasted like warm, soft rain on a Seattle summer day and lapped at the corners of his soul like gentle waves lapping across the sandy beach below his home. He felt as lightheaded as a teenager experiencing those first heady emotions of a new love. But this was not love and Ethan was no teenager and neither was Lauren. She was an adult woman, and he was a man, and this man wasn't strong enough to resist.

Review:
Ethan meets Lauren when he is pretending to be an agent sent by an interested investor to check out the team working from the inside out. Lauren is a woman in a mans world. She works hard to prove herself and gives herself heart and soul to the team. She made a mistake in her past by getting too close to a player and she almost lost her career. Her assignment to help Ethan understand the team is one thing, but the feelings and chemistry he stirs up when they are together is another thing entirely.

I quickly found myself loving Ethan, his passion for the game, and also his growing feelings for Lauren and knowing that when she found out who he truly was things were likely to go South quick- especially once she finds out he is taking her team as far West as it can possibly go. This story was a fresh take on hockey romance and I loved every single page!  I gave Skating on Thin Ice 5 STARS!

For those of you that follow this blog regularly you know there is nothing I love more than hockey romance. Sports romance is my thing, especially hockey romance, so my inner goddess donned her cheer leading uniform and jumped for joy as soon as she read the intro to Skating on Thin Ice. This is book #1 in her new Seattle Sockeyes series and Jami Davenport has plans, BIG plans, that include expanding more fictional sport teams in Seattle. She does a wonderful job building a team in this first installment of the Sockeyes Hockey, I can't wait for more from this team, as well as any other sports teams Ms. Davenport dreams up for me to read about!

Review & Giveaway: Wicked Nights by Anne Marsh

Winner takes it all...off

Former diving champion Piper Clark never loses. Unfortunately, if she doesn't land this lucrative contract, her diving business will fail. Worse still, it will be at the hands of her childhood nemesis, Cal Brennan—six feet of hard, rugged former Navy SEAL. So Piper proposes a wager: whoever loses the diving contract must take orders from the winner...in bed.

Cal needs this contract for his own reasons. A former rescue swimmer, he may be having a few issues with diving since his last mission ended, but Piper doesn't need to know that. Something about her impulsive nature makes Cal rise to the bait, and there's nothing he'd like more than to show Piper exactly what rules are good for.

All bets are on. And someones about to start playing dirty....

Review:
Wicked  Nights by Anne Marsh is a steamy hot romance that encapsulates everything I love about a Harlequin Blaze, an intriguing story, a sexy hero (a SEAL none-the-less) and a heroine that will risk it all for what she really wants.

Piper needs to win the contract with the cruise line to save her business. Cal also needs this contract, but for a more personal reason.  Once a sexy wager is added to the mix, these two find it more and more difficult to pretend they really don't like each other. Sparks fly and as the contract negotiations get more competitive their growing intimate relationship could cost  them the thing they want most.... someone will win this contract, but will they lose their heart in the process?

I love a good alpha male, but this heroine also likes a little control. The building relationship and back and forth between these two was thoroughly entertaining. The contract competition gave this story a fun plot twist and it kept me interested. I gave this book a solid 4 Stars! This was my first Anne Marsh read and I can say without a doubt it will not be my last.

Excerpt:
One woman tearing your clothes off was fun. Five at once? Not so much.

“Please, ladies...” Christian was only half laughing now. Rip. There went an Armani sleeve. He shrugged away from the grasp, but there were still other hands pulling at him, tugging at him.

He’d known adoring fans before but they seldom pawed him. And this had gone way beyond pawing.

“I’ll sign autographs, but you really don’t need to take souvenirs.”

He had to raise his voice over their squeals. This was definitely not fun. In fact, it was getting downright scary. The crowd surrounding him pressed in tighter. There seemed to be more of them now too.

Another rip. This time his shirt. The excited squeals increased in volume.

“He’s mine!” shouted one over-eager fan.

“Mine!” the others echoed.

“Well, actually, ladies...” He belonged to no one. But in the grip of mob mentality, they neither heard nor cared.

He had to get out of here.

With another rip, this time the rear seam of his evening jacket, he pulled away from the knot of admirers. One young woman tumbled to her knees with the impetus. Fighting every instinct to be a gentleman, he didn’t pause. He ran. The sound of their pursuit spurred him on. He ran blindly. Now he knew how it felt to be the fox in a fox hunt.

A block or two further and the number of feet behind him seemed to diminish, but he still didn’t look back. He only hoped no-one had been trampled in the ruckus. Though if one or two of the fanatics broke a heel in the process, justice would be served. He reached an intersection and looked both ways. This foreign city had turned into a maze and he had absolutely no idea where he was. Back where he’d been accosted, the streets teemed with life. He paused. He stood now in a deserted residential street, a terrace of imposing townhouses lined with trees stark against the night sky.

And no way out.

Cul-de-sac either side and a dead-end straight ahead.

Damn.

He looked back over his shoulder. There were only three women left in the race, but they were gaining.

A car pulled out of a driveway within the cul-de-sac to his left, picking up speed as it approached his street corner. An open-topped sports car with only one occupant. Blonde was all he had time to register. Drawing on a lifetime’s worth of instinct, he took a running leap and landed face-first in the rear seat, just as the roof began to unfold and close over them.

Author Info:
I've always written stories for myself but didn't even think of being an author until I realized that being over thirty and living in a fantasy world was a little odd. Writing those same stories for other people makes it a lot more acceptable! By day I dress in cargo pants and boots for my not-so-glamorous job of making movies but at night I come home to my two little Princesses, and I get to write Happy Ever Afters. Since I believe every girl is a princess, and every princess deserves a happy ending, what could be more perfect?Though my heart lies in Europe, I'm not too good with the cold, so I live in sunny SouthAfrica.

It's no secret to anyone that follows this blog regularly that I am a huge fan of Jennifer Bernard's Bachelor Firemen series. This series has earned any book by Jennifer Bernard a spot on my keeper shelf.  I aways think the latest release is my favorite... Night Belongs to Fireman is no exception.
I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this book IS my favorite of the series. Jennifer weaves a fun contemporary romance full of her trademark 5 ALARM FIRE heat, humor and a twisting plot that kept me on the edge of my seat. I gave this book 5 STARS! If you aren't reading this series I strongly recommend you get on the bandwagon!
