I wish I had the funds to purchase Hard As It Gets and share it with every romance lover I know! I LOVED this book, it is my new favorite book of 2013. I read this book the day I received the ARC and since that day I have already read it twice... I needed it to be fresh in my mind for this review (who am I kidding, I just wanted to spend a little more time with Nick Rixey!) I am a big fan of Lori Foster's Men that Walk the Edge of Honor series, I own all of those book, both digitally and in print and I have a feeling Laura Kaye's entire Hard Ink series just earned a spot on my bookshelf right beside my Lori Foster collection!
Nick and his team left military life on the verge of a scandal, a scandal that he believed was caused entirely by Becca's father, so his first inclination when she comes to him for help is to tell her no. But, there is something about her that he can't get out of his head. One thing leads to another and Nick finds himself jumping in head first to protect her and help her find brother, even calling on his former colleagues to help.
Nick and Becca have AMAZING chemistry, their interactions will have you blushing, they are so hot together.. scorching hot! Laura Kaye knows how to write a sex scene that is for sure! The plot is full of action and and will have you quickly flipping the pages to see what comes next. The characters in this book are awesome and they lead me to believe the rest of this series will be just as amazing as this book, I can't wait for more Jeremy, Jess, Shane and the rest of Nick's crew!
I gave this book 5 STARS! I liked it so much I purchased a copy to my sister for her birthday! I pre-ordered and it should be delivered to her doorstep today (Sissy- if you read this review before UPS truck stops at your house today, SURPRISE and Happy Birthday!)
This book can be read as a stand alone book, there are no super crazy cliffhangers, however it does leave a little bit of mystery surrounding the overall plot that will have you jonesing for the next book (Hard Ink Book #2-Hard As You Can is set for release on 2/25/14).
