Anything But Sweet by Candis Terry
Review & Giveaway!

A man who doesn't like change...
The Wilder family is something of a Sweet, TX institution: between their yearly BBQ blow-outs and their Hardware and Feed store, they're an institution- an institution that ex-marine Reno Wilder has tried to preserve, in honor of his lost loved ones. But it seems like he's the only one who's got any respect left for traditions when a new TV makeover show rolls in to renovate Sweet to bring in more tourists. Everyone is pleased except Reno- and this cowboy is determined to keep everything just the way he likes it.

A woman who wants to change everything...
Inquisitive. Stubborn. Smart. Drop dead gorgeous. That would be makeover show host Charlotte Brooks- the woman Reno has declared war against. And yet, he can't seem to keep away from her, or to get her off his mind. Charlotte isn't about to back down from a challenge of any kind= and she's promised to prove to Reno that change can be sexy, hot and very, very sweet, if Reno and Charli learn to let go of their pasts and grab hold of a future full of promise.

This book has everything I love in a Contemporary Romance. Ms.Terry manages to perfectly balance small town charm with lovable characters and just the right amount of humor and passion. This was a wonderful fun read and I finished it in one day! Charli has been added to my list of most likable heroines, I loved everything from her attitude and desire to help people, right down to her cute little dog Pumpkin. Reno is the perfect sexy tortured hero and these two burn up the pages with their chemistry!

I've heard this author compared to Rachel Gibson and as a die-hard Rachel Gibson fan's, I whole-heartedly agree- fan of Rachel's are sure to become fan's of Candis Terry!

I gave this book a very solid 5 STARS! I will be stalking to find out what is next for the Sugar Shack series. There are several characters from this book that deserve their own stories (ie: Reno's brother and his ex-wife- hint, hint Candis if you are reading this!).

  1. What gave you the idea for this story line?
    The book looks really good

    1. Hi lorimeehan! And thank you! I am a crazy HGTV fan and I've even tried a few of my own makeovers. I've always been drawn to the female makeover hosts' bubbly unstoppable force personalities and I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if one of them came up against an unmovable object. Thus Charli and Reno were born.

  2. Book looks like a really good read. Is this giveaway open to US entrants only or is it open to everybody?

    1. Hi divavixenqueen! This giveaway is open to everyone. I have many international readers and I would never dream of cutting them out. So whether you live in Paris, France or Paris, Texas this giveaway is for you!

  3. MommyIves, I just wanted to say a huge thank you! Your review gave me heart tingles! And if you liked Jackson, his story is next in "Sweetest Mistake" which will be available Dec. 31. Ask and ye shall receive!

  6. Great review! I'm looking forwrd t reading this myself

  7. I can't wait to read the Sweetest Mistake. I loved this book - and when I first read the blurb, I immediately thought that it wasn't for me. I'm not a typical cowboy-loving, reality-show (i.e., Survivor) fanatic. However, I opened it up anyway (admittedly, I do love me some HGTV!) and I was SO blown away by the story, the characters, the emotional intensity and the quality of the writing that I am HOOKED. Excellent work, Ms. Terry! :)

    1. Nancy! You have no idea how happy your post makes me. I love when readers take a chance and feel like the chance was worth the risk. It means so much that you gave me and my character that opportunity. Thank you!

  8. I am looking forward to reading this!

  9. Sounds great!
